Tech Stroll

Featuring Technology – All Over Town!

This fun, family-friendly event will showcase the amazing technology at work and available in our community. You'll find interactive displays featuring everything from virtual reality, to robots, to Catapult Cornhole.

At the Westminster Library you'll be able to experience virtual reality, play with robots, and build a new creation out of Strawbees. On the library lawn, visitors will be entertained by the local band Foggy May and try their hand at a game of Catapult Cornhole.

Across the street in Locust Lane, there will be a variety of interactive games for kids of all ages. These will include:

  • Big Jenga
  • Minecraft
  • Beebot Mazes
  • Makey Makey Piano
  • Lego WeDo Creations
  • Cup Stacking Challenge
  • Tech Support
  • Interactive Video

Inside the Winchester Exchange, see how technology is transforming the Carroll County Career and Tech Center. They'll have laser engraving, a virtual welding display, and a variety of other interactive displays.

From there, visitors can continue on their stroll to visit Ting for an Open House to experience their crazy fast fiber Internet.  Their team will be on-hand to show you what symmetrical gigabit Internet feels like and to answer your questions about cutting the cord with cable.  There will also be a demonstration of the tech toys that will soon be available to the community in the new Ting Makerspace. 

In addition to these stroll activities, we invite you to stop by some of our visionary downtown businesses to learn about the technology they use every day.

InfoPathways and Freedom Broadband

Bits-n-Bytes (Bites), Flashing Lights! Join InfoPathways for a behind the scenes tour of their Network Operation Center. Enjoy a beverage and a bite, and see how people really use Terabytes of data on the Internet. Their team will be on-hand to show you the latest in smart home/office technologies and to answer your technology questions.

Run Moore

13 Liberty Street

When you stop by Run Moore, you'll be able to see how technology is used to offer runners, walkers, and fitness enthusiasts recommendations for the perfect shoe. They'll also demonstrate how they use technology to manage and track fun runs and competitive races. 
 

Tomlin Technology

77 E. Main Street, Suite #106

Tomlin Technology will be plugging people into the Matrix using the Occulus Rift, which is a premier virtual reality device on the market right now. The Rift will be powered by a Projected Force PC.

Kohn Creative & Carroll Magazine

83 E. Main Street

Kohn Creative and Carroll Magazine will be offering tours of their state-of-the-art print shop. You can expect to see:

  • Laser Cutter demonstration
  • UV Flatbed demonstration
  • Eco Solvent Printer demonstration
  • Drone demonstration in parking lot
